Director of Medical Services
Tom Hastings is a Clinical Specialist Nurse in Cardiology and Director of Heartsure Cardiology clinic in Kingston Upon Thames.
Founding the clinic in 2012, Tom has used his expertise as a specialist nurse in Cardiology within the NHS to help patients in all aspects of their cardiac care, following hospital admission or for prevention.
He has co-founded HeartSmart with both Andrew and Adam to bring the services offered at his clinic to a wider audience.
Director of Strategic Growth
Adam French is a high-impact commercial executive with over 20 years of experience scaling growth across corporate giants, agile scale-ups, and entrepreneurial start-ups.
A specialist in digital advertising, Adam has a knack for building commercial functions from scratch, consistently blending poise under pressure with a relentless focus on results and customer satisfaction.
Working his entire career in the high-pressure world of advertising, Adam has seen the effects of undiagnosed cardiac problems first hand with several work colleagues experiencing cardiac events unexpectedly over the years.
This was the main driver for him founding Heartsmart, along with the rest of the team. He holds a BA in Business and International Management from Oxford Brookes University.
Outside of work, Adam is an avid cyclist and takes part in Long distance Endurance Sportives, Most recently he completed Chase the Sun UK, cycling across the width of Southern England in one Day (210 Miles).
Chief Medical Officer
Dr Andrew Marshall is a highly regarded, Cambridge University-trained Consultant Cardiologist with more than 20 years’ clinical experience and extensive subspecialty expertise in cardiac imaging and heart valve disease. He holds accreditation in both cardiology and general internal medicine.
His NHS practice is based at Kingston & Richmond NHS Foundation Trust, where he leads the echocardiography service.

Dr Marshall completed his medical degree at Downing College, Cambridge, and the Cambridge University School of Clinical Medicine. His cardiology specialist training included a period of clinical research, culminating in the award of a Medical Doctorate (MD). He undertook subspecialty training in advanced multimodality cardiac imaging at Harefield Hospital.
Appointed as Consultant Cardiologist at East Sussex Healthcare NHS Trust in 2015, Dr Marshall led the echocardiography, heart failure, and adult congenital heart disease services. In 2022, he joined Kingston Hospital to lead and further develop the echocardiography service, including the establishment of an in-house complex echocardiography programme.
While Dr Marshall manages a broad range of general cardiology conditions, he has particular expertise in multimodality cardiac imaging for patients with ischaemic heart disease, valvular heart disease, cardiomyopathy, and heart failure. His research contributions include publications on the prognostic value of exercise capacity in ischaemic heart disease and the application of echocardiography and radionuclide imaging in heart failure patients with implantable devices.
In addition to his clinical and research work, Dr Marshall holds senior leadership roles within several clinical and educational organisations. He is a council member and previous Treasurer of the British Heart Valve Society, a council member of the Cardiology section of the Royal Society of Medicine, and Cardiology Training Programme Director for the Kent, Surrey and Sussex deanery.
